The Circle of Palos Verdes Art Center
Over the last 50 years, The Circle has raised more than $2.2 million to support Palos Verdes Art Center art, art education, and outreach programs. At the core of our Circle fundraising mission is our belief in "the power of art to spark the imagination, be an agent for change, and unlock unlimited possibilities."
Collected Treasures 2027
It's Treasure Time!
March 19-21, 2027
Time to donate your precious treasures that you no longer need, for others to enjoy for years to come.
Circle members are already hard at work collecting, sorting, cleaning and pricing a treasure trove of items for our signature fundraiser, Collected Treasures. Last year was an outstanding success, and this year continues under the dynamic leadership of our 2nd Vice-President Denise Tegel. Every purchase provides essential funds for Palos Verdes Art Center art education and outreach programs that benefit the entire community.
Donation Drop-Off Dates
We are immensely grateful for your contributions, and will be ready to help unload your donations at the Palos Verdes Art Center pod (top right of the parking lot) from 11 am – 2 pm on the following dates in 2026:
- Thursday, October 15
- Thursday, November 5
- Thursday, December 3
Additional 2027 donation dates will be added soon.
Enjoy a Circle Docent for your next PVAC Tour!
Averill Park’s Stone Bridge, 1997. Stand By Me, a retrospective exhibition celebrating noted plein air painter, Stephen Mirich.
Add enjoyment to your experience. Docents are now giving tours of PVAC art exhibitions Stephen Mirich: Stand By Me and the Studio School Faculty Show. Join us on Tuesdays and Saturdays through November 14th from 10 am to 12 noon, meeting in the Gallery entrance.
Student groups, community organizations, friends and family who wish to attend as a group can arrange a Docent-guided tour by contacting Gail Phinney, Community Engagement Director, gphinney@pvart.org.
Circle Docents receive training about the artists’ background, influences and techniques, and offer insights into the artist’s oeuvre to enhance your understanding, appreciation and experience of the works displayed.
Youth Studio Digital Lab
We are proud to announce that the PVAC’s new Youth Studio Digital Lab – funded by a $20,000 gift from The Circle – launched its first classes during the Summer Art Academy. The Circle’s donation provided iPods with protective cases, Apple pencils and a charging cart, plus drawing, design and animation software, teaching materials and curriculum support. Under School Director Milli Moto, the Youth Studio Digital Lab offers three class levels during the regular school year:
Early Visual Explorers (ages 5-7), learn about color, shape and storytelling by using simple digital drawing, painting and animation
Developing Digital Artists (ages 8-12), build skills in illustration, comic creation and character design while solving artistic problems and completing digital art projects
Advanced Art & Portfolio Building (ages 12-15), focus on graphic design, short animated pieces and developing portfolio-ready artwork.
Earth Studio
A New PVAC Outreach Program
Earth Studio @PVAC is an exciting new community outreach program of Palos Verdes Art Center. They’ve partnered with Valmonte Farm & Garden and Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District to create a regenerative, seasonal program designed to integrate gardening, food systems, art, and sustainability administered by trained parent volunteers at each school garden site. The pilot program started in Fall 2026.
